Post Poems

Dear Friends— Inspired by several sources (ask me if you really want to know), I’m embarking on a new project. I’m inviting anyone who knows me/whom I know, to send me your mailing address and I will send you an original poem, written just for you, on a postcard, for free!

I’ll do my best to make the poem as personal as possible—maybe something about our relationship, or about you as I know/remember you, or perhaps something we might talk about if we were hanging out together.

If you want me to write about something in particular, just ask. Perhaps you’ve read a cool book or seen a silly film or taken a wild trip or remember something hilarious we did together and would like a poem about that—fantastic. You can even send me a postcard of a great painting or photo you’d like me to write a poem about. I love those kinds of prompts. But no pressure. Just your address will do.

Depending on the number of responses I get, I’ll write the poem quickly (some might be handwritten, others typed and printed) and send it to you as soon as I can. Remember, these are poems on postcards so they will be 1) short 2) odd/quirky/poetic in the contemporary sense 3) not necessarily a work of great literature but certainly one of great attention giving.

Also, I plan to scan the poems I write so I can keep an archive of them, see if they develop into something larger. I may even put some/all of them up on a web site from time to time. If you’re not comfortable with that, let me know. It won’t affect my love for you.

OK. So send those addresses, requests, etc. to me at: postpome (at) gmail (dot) com. Looking forward to being in touch.

Thanks—David
